Thoughtful Self Care this Pandemic

Self-care has always been a top priority and treasure of healthy and happy women.

It is essential for holistic growth and will lead to a balanced lifestyle. This pandemic isn’t going away anytime soon and one year after we are still overwhelmed and sad truth; women are suffering from all forms of anxiety.

Learning to balance every area of Self Care can be a challenge. Despite how difficult it might be to practice self-care, it’s essential to remember that you are capable of loving and honoring yourself and that you have the power to develop self-care habits that will nourish your life.

We are sharing some major links to your thoughtful and intentional planning to keep your sanity and joy this season: mental self-care, emotional self-care, and physical self-care.

Mental Self-Care

Talk about self-care, this is a sensitive topic for some until this day for there are different perspective on the gravity of mental health awareness. You know the saying, everything starts with the mind? It’s true how everything we can think of and choose to dwell on can impact our whole being. We believe this is not something we can just be passive about, especially at times like this. This is the start to intentionally know how to deal with stress. This is one perspective we just needed to highlight :

“Working to reduce stress in your life can pay huge dividends in terms of saved time, saved money, improved health, and better relationships. Most of all, it can create a more peaceful, comfortable mental environment. The thoughts that you have contribute to your overall confidence and happiness, so reframing negative thoughts or distorted thoughts is an important thing to learn how to do.” - poosh.com

Physical Self-Care

Here’s the thing, we are responsible for our own well-being.

Your mental wellness is one thing but the truth is, there’s so much pressure on the side of physical self care. Self-care includes eating properly, exercising, sleeping well, and being sensitive with what your body needs. This requires to focus on your diet, exercise, hydration, and sleep. The major stressors on our body are lack of sleep, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and sugar. Today, more than any other time in history, we have so many tools: sleep apps, meditation tapes, healthy food alternatives, herbal teas, and so much more. Developing healthy habits will help sustain our wellness while sparing us the toxicity. Finding replacements for these substances may take some creativity and getting used to, but ultimately your body—and mind—will thank you.

Plus, one more thing…

Active Lifestyle

One of the rituals of mindfulness is actually engaging in physical activity. This may be the last thing on your mind when you’re stressed out but know that the state of your body is impacts every area of healthy living. Since stress releases hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol, getting moving can help trick your body into believing it has successfully executed a “fight or flight” response, which in turn dials down the stress. When we honor our bodies with physical activity, we get our blood circulating and our metabolism revved up, and we feel and look good, all of which can affect our mental health.

Emotional Self-Care

When it comes to emotional self-care, it is important to be comfortable, be sensitive with your emotions and know the limits of it. It starts with acknowledging what you feel but not giving every permission to every emotion to invade your whole being, from your thoughts and behavior. Most of us women, we are mostly being dragged by our feelings cos we are the emotional ones. But it’s not an excuse to cater to these temporary mood swings of ours. This year, aim to be steadfast, to be alert with all sorts of stress and before taking it in your emotional baggage remember self care. Keep your heart healthy. Release unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, hurt, and resentments. Settle with the thought that you can manage your emotions one step at a time. Embrace every process of growth and this journey of nourishing your inner wellness, it starts from within.

These are just some of the major areas of thoughtful self care that help you develop habits to enhance your overall health and wellness at a time like this.
